Description
Antique 19th c. Meiji KUTANI Porcelain Bento Lidded Dish with 3 Tiers, MarkedFor your consideration is a round Japanese 3- tiers porcelain Bento box
Called Jubako in Japan, meaning stacking boxes
Traditionally used for food such as rice in one section, vegetables in the next, and fish or meat in the third.
Good as a decorative piece or to store trinkets and jewelry
Superb quality hand painted Kutani style decoration with polychrome enamels and gold featuring flowers and patterned panels
There are decorations also on the inner rim of each bowl
Marks at the bottom of each section
Circa late 1800's Meiji Period (1968-1912), Japan
