    Description

A scarce and beautiful little hand painted floral and signed covered tripod box from the Meiji era of Japanese fine art pottery. It is one of the designs known as the golden Imperial pottery. I do not recognize the signature, however from the very fineness of the pottery and the soft cream glaze and the tripod design, I would guess it is from the Kinkozan Pottery of Kyoto Japan (c1645 to 1927) and possibly before they joined Satsuma for marketing of their wares (c1875 to 1927).
It is in perfect condition with no wear to the paintings, no chips, no cracks, no repairs and minor wear to the gilt on the top edge from use.  There is the normal very fine age crackling of the glaze and also some subtle kiln smoke marks on the underside and the interior of the lid. (the period of wood fired kilns.)
The size is 2 1/2" in diameter and 1 1/2" high.
