This is made very well and has very good lacquer work called Makie. It's fine. And it's wonderful raised pattern of bird and peony flowers Takamaki-e. This is the serious and really old lacquer ware that the specialist made.
About MAKIE. It is the one of the lacquer technique in Japan. It is a technique to draw patterns on a lacquerware by gold or silver. And that is incredibly delicate work. It's history is very old. It was very very difficult to repeat the work with facility of old time Japan. It took several months to complete Makie. Or several years. So, Japanese lacquerware with Makie is very valuable.
